Rauw was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. to guitarist Raúl Ocasio and backing vocalist María Nelly Ruiz. He spent his childhood in Canovanas and Carolina, as well as on the mainland U.S., mainly Miami and New York City, where he was inspired by R&B and dancehall music.
