    Morgan Reid Facts

  • During her time at Cardinal Gibbons High School, Morgan used to excel at both soccer and basketball. She was a 4-year ‘letter winner’ (a high school or college student who has met a specified level of participation/performance) and a 2-time team ‘MVP’ (Most Valuable Player) as the basketball team’s starting point guard.
  • In soccer, she helped her team win the 2013 state championship, scoring in the final. She was named the ‘NCSCA (North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association) Player of the Year’ as well as the ‘Gatorade Player of the Year’ for the state of North Carolina in 2014. Morgan was also ranked the number 1 player in the South Atlantic region.
  • During her time at Duke University, she was a 4-time member of the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Honor Roll. ACC, headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a collegiate athletic conference located in the eastern United States. Its 15 member universities compete in Division I of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association).
  • In her senior year at university, Morgan helped the Duke Blue Devils secure a university-record 18 clean sheets (a term used to refer to a defensive team that prevents the opposing side from scoring even a single goal in a match). With the team, she reached the final of the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship in 2015 and the semi-final in 2017.
  • She was a member of the American squad that won the 2012 edition of the CONCACAF Women’s under-17 Championship. It was the country’s 2nd such title. CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football) is one of the 6 constituent continental governing bodies of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).
  • Later that year, Morgan was a part of the American squad that participated in the 2012 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. In the group stage, the team was tied with France and North Korea on 5 points (1 win and 2 draws) each but was eliminated on goal difference. This was the first time that a team had been eliminated from this tournament without losing a match.
