The all-day outdoor bar and restaurant space overlooking the pool and beach has a lovely relaxed, casual but effortlessly chic vibe. Breakfast is served until 11; a buffet of cereals; fruits; a superb array of breads, yogurts, compotes, jams and spreads (if you’re there during fig season you’ve lucked out, and you must also try the chocolate tahini, a personal favourite); cheeses; cold cuts and hot dishes such as Mediterranean vegetables, fried potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, and not forgetting the moreish Greek pastries, both savoury and sweet. Egg dishes are made to order, and slightly hit-and-miss; I loved the Greek scramble - creamy eggs cut through with feta, olive and tomato - but more standard dishes such as eggs florentine weren’t quite right (soggy with not enough spinach).

The restaurant menu is heaven for seafood-lovers, with a raw section, appetisers such as grilled octopus and fried squid that are good for nibbling by the pool, and multiple fish options (as well as meat). A sharing starter of lobster, king prawns, scallops and mussels (€90 [£79]) was not the most succulent I’ve ever had. My tuna with kumquat, sesame, caviar and leeks (€42 [£37]) was rich and plentiful; the unexpected standout dish though was a side of charred corn in a gently spicy, creamy sauce that I could happily have eaten on its own. A mousse dessert served to resemble an apple, accompanied by black sesame ice cream, makes for a playful, light end to proceedings that leaves subtle references to Asian flavours lingering in the mouth.
