Professional athletes have a very bad habit of going broke. And amazingly, this happens after these athletes have earned huge amounts of money from salary and endorsements. Unfortunately, the latest example is former NBA star Darius Miles.

Darius spent 10 seasons in the NBA, during which time he earned $66 million from salary alone. He also earned millions more from endorsements. But all those millions are now gone because Darius just filed for bankruptcy in Missouri.

In the bankruptcy filing, Darius claims to have $460,000 in assets and just under $1.6 million in debt. He owes $282,000 to the IRS. He owes $20,000 in unpaid child support. He has $49,000 in a checking account and $85,000 in a college fund set up for his son. He lives in house that is worth $240,000 and drives a 2011 Chevy Camaro that is worth $20,000.

Interestingly, Darius' filing shows that he is the owner of 12 real estate properties, all of which are located in East St. Louis.

Darius Miles went straight to the NBA after high school as the third pick of the 2000 draft by the Clippers. Knee injuries ended his career after the 2010 season.

Outside of basketball, Darius appeared in several movies and TV shows including "Van Wilder" and "The Perfect Score".
